The recommended profile for admission is as follows: graduates from the former degrees in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Physics, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Statistics, from the former degrees in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, Industrial and Electronic Engineering, and from the former degrees in Optics and Optometry and Nursing.
The programme's Academic Committee will be responsible for assessing the applications after the deadline for receipt of applications and will decide on admission on the basis of the criteria detailed below. The admission criteria will be made public on the relevant websites at least one month before the end of the admission period.
The admission criteria and procedures for part-time students will be the same as those for full-time students.
For a student to be admitted, it will be essential to include a document signed by the supervisor of their thesis, in which he/she guarantees his/her availability for that direction (access to the document). The supervisor must be a PhD with accredited research experience. To justify this requirement must also be provided, if applicable, the document of supervision with recognized six-year research periods (access to the document) or without recognized six-year research periods (access to the document).
In addition to the above, the following admission criteria will be used:
Criterion 1 - Average mark of the academic record; up to 2 points (minimum of 1.7 points).
Criterion 2 - Proposed line of research; up to 2 points (minimum of 1 point).
Criterion 3 - Knowledge of English language; up to 2 points (minimum 0.5 points; minimum level required: B1 (CEFR) or equivalent (PET - Cambridge; IELTS: 4-5).
Criterion 4 - Other merits; up to 2 points.
Criterion 5 - Letter of motivation and interest and/or personal interview; up to 2 points.
For the assessment of English language proficiency, an official certificate of English language proficiency must be provided. Minimum level required: B1 or equivalent (PET Cambridge Exam: Preliminary English Test; IELTS 4-5).
In order to be admitted, it will be necessary to exceed the minimum score thresholds established for criteria 1, 2 and 3, and to obtain at least 6 points out of a possible maximum of 10 as a result of adding up the scores for all the criteria.
